Dear Fellow Nebraska HIMSS members,
Welcome to the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Nebraska Chapter website! Nebraska begins its seventh year with nearly 300 members working hard to fulfill our mission of leading change in the healthcare information and management systems field through knowledge sharing, advocacy, collaboration, innovation, education, and community affiliations in Nebraska.
2016-2017 should be a rewarding year for our members. Although the industry continues to experience incredible change – Meaningful Use (MU) attestation, ICD-10 implementation, Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), ever changing regulations and increased security threats - our Chapter is making great strides toward educating members and providing networking and advocacy opportunities for all. It is the goal of our Chapter Leaders to engage our members and provide them with opportunities to learn and grow in their understanding of Health Information Technology (HIT). Members continually tell us that networking with their peers is one of the most valuable resources that comes with their HIMSS membership. Please make time to join us at one of our educational events and see for yourself how valuable connecting with your peers can be. Our fall conference is October 12 in conjunction with the Nebraska Hospital Association Conference in LaVista. Save the date and join us!
I look forward to serving as your President this year and am excited to be working with a slate of exceptional leaders: Jean Meiergerd (Past-President), George Reynolds (President-Elect), Brian Sterud (Secretary) and Cheryl Tira (Treasurer). I would like to thank them for volunteering their time and sharing their talents with us. I encourage each of you to consider getting more involved in our chapter this year – participate in our local conferences – as well as the HIMSS17 conference in Orlando, Florida (February 19-23, 2017), participate in panel discussions, get involved with advocacy or join our Informatics Committee. There are also many opportunities to be involved with the National HIMSS organization. Your involvement strengthens our Chapter and HIT professions as a whole. Please feel free to reach out to me or any of the board members regarding ways to get more involved in the HIMSS Nebraska Chapter.
I look forward to working with each of you in the upcoming year!
